What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

RPL is for those who feel they already have the skills and knowledge to course standards. For example, you may have been doing a job for a long time and it would be a waste of time for you to study the course. RPL is a fast track process where we acknowledge your existing skills and knowledge.

The RPL process we use at Distance Learning Australia is online, comprehensive, efficient and negotiable.

Feedback on the processes we have developed has been overwhelmingly positive from those who have undertaken RPL.

RPL is a terrific way to have your existing skills and knowledge recognised.

Recognition of Prior Learning Process

Distance Learning Australia recognises that RPL is a process. This is why Distance Learning Australia will provide mentoring and access to your assessor throughout the process to help you provide the evidence you need.

Distance Learning Australia has developed an efficient RPL online process where you answer questions online and upload documents in order to prove that you are already competent in the units of study without having to study them. This tool is easy to use and you can see what you have already uploaded at any time. It has been developed by our software engineers over 4 years and is trialled and proven.

What happens if there are gaps?

Some organisations offer RPL but if there are any gaps (say units or topics you need to study), they don't provide you with the opportunity to complete your study. This is quite annoying to say the least. If there are gaps, meaning you need to study part of a qualification, we will guarantee that we can deliver this to you. After negotiation with us, it will be very clear to you and your assessor if you need to study a unit in the qualification.

These are available at a unit cost, "so you won't get stuck with a partial qualification and have nowhere to finish it!" The cost structure if you need to study a unit is very fair - it is simply the full qualification divided by the number of units you need to study - no extra, it's just that.

How can I enrol?

You can enrol into RPL any time. RPL prices are listed under the courses and are generally 50% or less of the full price. If you do not see the RPL you want there, please ask as it is most likely available, but not advertised. If you are unsure about whether or not you should apply for RPL, we will give you advice upfront.
